Aloha!
Welcome to the Third Biennial Western Regional IDeA Scientific Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii. This conference is for IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) and Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) program participants from Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
Our theme for this meeting is “One Biology”. Our concept of One Biology requires connections. We want connections from the bench to the bedside, from the bench to the broader community, and of course, connections to each other.
Our meeting will include sessions and workshops on Evaluation, Mentoring, Bioinformatics, Grant Writing and Research presentations (oral and poster).
The National Institute for General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsors the Institutional Development Award (IDeA) program. This important program aids in the development of research competitiveness of investigators and institutions among 23 states and Puerto Rico in which the aggregate funding success rate of applications to NIH has been historically low. This Conference will highlight progress and research excellence being developed at multiple institutions in our Western Region. We hope you have an exciting and productive experience. It is our pleasure to welcome you to our Islands. A hui hou kakou malama pono (Take Care, until we meet again).
